  • Expert Talk (Hybrid): Ontology for AI Data Science and Data Management - Teilnahme in Präsenz / Participation on site

Adam Pease Associate Professor of Computer Science at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA, USA

    09.04.2024

Big data is a foundation of modern AI. But relatively little attention is given to the meta-data - what is the intended meaning of that data? Ontology, especially using an expressive logic and a large reusable library of terms and definitions makes it possible and practical to capture the intended meaning of data elements, ensure they are consistent, and provide a way to ground the outputs and inputs to AI/ML systems so that people can interpret their results correctly. The same technology can provide a cross-check AI/ML outputs to ensure they are consistent with metadata, providing a way that may trap some hallucinations. This talk will discuss the SUMO library of terms and its supporting higher-order logical language, as well as its use with automated theorem provers to provide data validation.
